We measure and check how flat the subfloor is, because vinyl is thin and telegraphs whatever is under it.
Every dip and ridge is dealt with first. This is the step that separates a floor that looks poured from one that looks patched.
Click or glue-down depending on the room, then trims and thresholds detailed so the edges are finished rather than covered.
Ridges and dips showing through are almost always a subfloor that was not leveled. Vinyl is thin by design and it will not hide anything.
Gapping between planks usually means a click floor was fitted too tight to the wall and had nowhere to expand, or too loose and has crept.
Lifting at the edges in a wet room points to seams or a perimeter that was not sealed, and it is worth fixing quickly because water under a floor does not dry on its own.
Sweep or vacuum, then damp mop with a neutral cleaner. Vinyl does not want polish, and most floor polishes leave a film that dulls it.
Felt pads under furniture and a proper mat at the door. Grit is the only thing that really damages a wear layer, and it arrives on shoes.
Avoid dragging appliances across it. A plank can be replaced individually, which is one of vinyl's advantages, but not having to is better.
No two vinyl flooring jobs price the same, because no two rooms are sitting on the same thing.
